Last Wednesday, June 6, 2018, the City Council held a study session to discuss the results of a comprehensive fee study. Below are typical industry wide trends for various fees. However, the summary results below show that the City recovers only a small portion of its costs through fees: 35% - planning; 55% - building; 36% - police; and 25% - administrative and miscellaneous fees.
The Council will continue its fee conversation on June 20, 2018 at 6 pm and discuss what level of cost recovery is appropriate for Scotts Valley. The Council will also focus on what type of fees should remain artificially low to minimize impacts to the residential and business community, and explore incremental approaches to phasing in fee adjustments. The June 20, 2018 agenda materials will be posted the evening of Friday, June 15, 2016.
