The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) developed and adopted the Santa Cruz County Bicycle Route Signage Program 2015 Implementation Plan which identified preferred routes to direct cyclists onto using a wayfinding signage system. These preferred routes were identified with stakeholder and City input and were selected based on a number of factors including connections to key destinations and most direct routes. The RTC has been awarded an Active Transportation Program grant from the California Transportation Commission (CTC) to install wayfinding signs, collect bicycle count data, and conduct public outreach. RTC staff collaborated with City staff to finalize the plans. The project is expected to begin construction in early 2019.
Plan development and initial installation costs will be incurred by the RTC. Maintenance and replacement costs for the 14 signs located in the City limits is anticipated to be negligible.
