The City Manager's Department is responsible for the overall administration of the City. Under the Council-Manager form of government used by Scotts Valley, the City Council appoints a City Manager to serve as the City's chief administrative officer.
The City Manager is responsible for ensuring that the policies of the City Council are implemented. The City Manager provides administrative direction and leadership to all City departments. The City Manager's Office is responsible for a wide variety of activities including general administration, personnel and labor relations, and the redevelopment program.
